Legal Assistant – Complex Commercial Litigation

Responsibilities:

  • Manage lawyers’ calendars and provide meeting reminders
  • Schedule meetings and coordinate travel arrangements
  • Oversee filing deadlines and requirements
  • Maintain bring forward system and other systems to ensure deadlines are met
  • Draft, revise, format, and proofread correspondence and legal documents
  • Prepare and file court documents
  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, witnesses, etc.  
  • Conduct continuous client management and maintain client files
  • Liaise with lawyers and staff

Minimum requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant in Litigation within a Canadian law firm. Commercial Litigation experience is considered a definitive asset.  
  • Completion of a Legal Administrative Assistant program from an accredited institution
  • Knowledge of BC Court Rules, practices, and procedures
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office 365 and Sharepoint
  • Welcoming disposition towards learning the latest systems

Compensation: The expected range for this role is $65,000 - $75,000 per annum, commensurate with individual experience and qualifications.
